Sights of the bishop's town

Explore the city
of Bressanone

Bressanone's most famous landmarks, the White Tower and the Cathedral, are already visible from a long distance and dominate the old town silhouette. If you walk through the still preserved city gates of the bishop's town of Bressanone, the medieval alleys, the large and small arcades, lead you to the parish church of St. Michael, the cloister, the pharmacy museum or across the cathedral square to the prince-bishop's palace with the manor garden.

Art and Culture in South Tyrol

Creative-cultural experiences

Art and culture are in season in Bressanone all year round. Whether it's a classical concert in the cathedral or one of the town's many churches, a visit to the Water Light Festival or a historical guided tour through the town ... everyone will find their highlight. Countless events such as the music festival BrixenClassics, Dine, Wine & Music, the Mountain Bike Testival or the Bread and Strudel Market enrich the cultural offer.

Christmas market at Bressanone

The scent of Christmas biscuits is in the air ...

The pre-Christmas period in Bressanone and other towns in South Tyrol is characterised by the traditional Christmas markets. The Cathedral Square in Bressanone is transformed into a fairytale place of Christmas trees, nativity scenes, glowing baubles, mulled wine and fragrant Christmas cookies. There is also a wonderful atmosphere at the Christmas market in the town of Chiusa, which takes you on a journey back to the Middle Ages. In addition to the large Christmas markets in the cities, small, contemplative Christmas markets have established themselves in some valleys and villages, which should be on the visit list for all Christmas lovers. Whether at the Sarner Alpenadvent in the Sarntal valley with genuine Sarntal specialities and typical products or the Christmas markets at Ortisei and Selva in the Val Gardena valley with the famous wood carvings, everyone will find their favourite Christmas market!

"People who love the mountains are free from the depths of their soul. They easily float away from the humdrum of everyday life. People who love the mountains reflect sunlight. The others who stayed in the valley do not understand their language."
